Abstract:
Environmental Studies has evolved from an allied branch of natural sciences into an essential transdisciplinary domain addressing the complex interactions between human systems and the biosphere. In the context of the Anthropogenic—characterized by climate change, accelerating biodiversity loss, and systemic pollution—understanding environmental dynamics is vital for human survival and sustainable development. This review paper examines the core importance of environmental studies, synthesizes its historical and contemporary trajectories, and maps out emerging future scopes. Key areas such as climate modeling, circular economy, ecological economics, environmental justice, and technological integration (AI, GIS, and remote sensing) are highlighted. The paper concludes with a strategic roadmap for research, policy harmonization, and educational reform necessary to achieve long-term ecological balance.
