Abstract: Rhizoctonia solani causing sheath blight disease of rice is one of the most important and prominent fungus in West Bengal as well as other rice growing areas of the world and cause severe yield loss of rice. Due to lack of resistant donor line, a few resistant variety is available for combating the attack of the pathogen and so screening and selection of suitable fungicides is of utmost importance for effective disease management for ensuring sustainable rice production. Due to continuous application of same chemical and global climate crisis, development of resistance is on an increasing trend. Evaluation and screening of new generation fungicide molecules play a pivotal role in Integrated Disease Management for rice sheath blight. Experiment both in vitro and field evaluation, were conducted during the kharif (wet) seasons of 2024 and 2025 at Rice Research Station, Chinsurah, West Bengal, India to evaluate the relative efficacy of some new fungicide formulations against sheath blight disease of rice caused by Rhizoctonia solani. Two sprays of Mancozeb 50% + Thiophanate-methyl 25% WG @ 3.0 g/L were highly effective in reducing sheath blight disease severity and improving grain yield. Under in vitro conditions, the minimum EC₅₀ value (1.69 ppm) was also recorded for Mancozeb 50% + Thiophanate-methyl 25% WG, indicating that it was the most effective fungicide formulation among those tested and can be effectively recommended for Integrated Disease Management in rice for ensuring sustainable rice production.
